Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

GIVEAWAY CLOSED!!

Firstly, sorry this is a little late ! I wanted to have something made for the Sew Mama Sew giveaway but it just isn't going to happen in time so I thought I'd offer a FQ bundle of seasonal fabrics instead.
There are 5 prints including Matroyska dolls, chickens and snowflakes in red and green on a natural background which would be perfect for Christmas crafts. And also a cute little notebook to jot down your ideas.
To enter, please leave a comment below telling me some ideas for gifts for the boys or men in your life as they are the ones I find it difficult to buy or make for. If you think you may be a "no-reply" blogger then please leave your email address.
Giveaway Day
I am quite happy to post overseas also, so international entries are welcome. The giveaway is open until December 7th 2012 at 5 pm PST - which I think converts to Saturday 8th December at 12 noon AEDST.
Note: I may not get back to everyone but thank you so much for visiting and good luck!
Kirsten.

Cute bundle. I like that the fabrics are Christmassy but not overwhelmingly so. I am with you on guys being difficult to find gifts for. This year I am going quite handmade, and making a quilt for one brother (it wasn't initally intended as a Christmas gift, but its taken me a while to make it), a cushion for the other, and some oven mitts/hot pads for my dad. Books (including cookbooks), music, kitchen gadgets, t-shirts, vouchers and nice booze are also go-to guy gifts for me.

therese

Wow, those prints are adorable!
Guys are very difficult to buy for. Books are always good. T-shirts, tools or music DVD's are another choice. Or if you are like me - give them the ultimatum to buy their own present and you'll wrap it up!! Thanks for the chance to win.

Cherilyn

Fun giveaway! That is hard! My little boys love Legos and my sweet farmer likes warm well made winter gear. :)

jmj

Guys are really hard. I'm making cutting boards for the big guys and with cheese, sausage and a bit of mustard, and a fun beer. I've made hats and mittens in the past, but teens are hard, I cheat and get t shirts from Theadless, so I support artist instead, teens and pre teens love them. Thanks for the giveaway!

Alison

I bought my boyfriend seasons of his favorite shows on dvd.

Karen P.

Well my guy is needing accessories for his chick hatching hobby so I will probably go that route. I find its best to ask them what they need.

Ella

I've got a messenger bag and gear pouches in mind.

Angela Bullard

My go to is fun foods that I pick up at craft fairs. This year I got my husband and brother wine and pepper flavored jellies, various dip mixes, and chocolate merlot wine. I have to agree-the boys are hard to shop for! Thanks so much for a chance to win some beautiful fabric!

Fun! I'd say you can never go wrong with tech-y gadgets. My guys always seem to like those!

Heather

I made some scrappy scarves from bits of leftover boyish flannel. Really cute!

Danbury Quilter

My boyfriend actually picked out a mug and a leather bracelet for himself so he made it very easy for me! Thank you for the giveaway!

amyd14_1999@yahoo.com

andri.

I really dont know what handmade things would make them happy without the items being too girly, but gadgets would surely work!

Tessa Marie

That's a tough question - the boys are always hard. Books, shirts and music are always appreciated. Both my boys are golfers and they can always use golf balls!!

Rachel

Usually tools work for the men in my life.

Heather D.

Guys are tricky! I've found that iTunes gift cards are usually appreciated.

@pril

EESH! Hard one. A tool belt caddy, remote control caddy for the sofa or bedside, some kind of organizer for his car or trunk. I'm stumped on that one.

Jen@thecraftingfiend

i am making a toy airplane... and maybe a wallet.

Jenna@CallHerHappy

I am making a luggage tag for my husband because he travels a lot. I have also made him a bag for his travel bathroom items!

Jaclyn Davis

I made my nephews library bags in Michael Miller's Backyard party line. It has bugs and lizards on it. They turned out pretty cute!

Tas

I don't know if you knit, but scarves and beanies are excellent.

Wallets or covers for ipads/iphones/usbs/ipods in
some gorgeous boy prints seemto be well received.

LC

I'm making my brother and my husband each a pair of pajama pants and I'm making my dad a quilted case for his glasses. I'm also making my husband a zip pouch, but I'm finishing it tomorrow. He asked for it a while ago, and I've just been busy with other stuff.

Gigi

I made matching pj pants for my husband and 6yo son, they love that they match. I'm making my husband a pouch for his portable DVD player to bring to the gym to do rushfit too.

Kristie

For men: hats, wallets, silk screened shirts, messenger bags, toiletry kits, appliqued ties, felted sweater blanket. Hope that helps! kristie_keely(at)yahoo(d0t)com

Jamie Lee

This is not a handmade gift, but those Air Hogs helicopters at Amazon and Target get great reception from my husband and they are easy on the wallet, too. As far as homemade, coffee cake and white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies always are appreciated. Thanks for the giveaway...those fabrics are gorgeous!

Andi

I always do pyjama pants for boys. I also had a great time making angry birds last year and they were a hit with both the men and the boys!

Amira@littlemushroomcap

my little boy could use some new shorts..so maybe I'll make those for him. As for my hubby - can't make any - electronic stuff are his things..

Erin

I am making an Ipad cover for my husband.
Thanks for such a great giveaway.
Erin

Deanna

I made my husband a neck warmer from fleece, and then I gave it to him early cuz it's so cold outside! He loves it and wishes I had made it for him earlier.
Thanks for the giveaway.

piecelove

Magazine subscriptions for the boys, like Popular Mechanics. They can read them whilst they're sitting on the toilet or something. Guess I shouldn't say that on such a pretty blog. It is a pretty blog!

kathy

See my giveaway as it has gotten a few "must have for hubby" comments.
Granted they are kitchen towels but the technique could easily be made into something else. I am tranferring fun images with Citrasolv as the transfer agent. "Stay Calm & Fly On".
Thanks for the giveaway and please enter mine.

Crunchy Con Mommy

I'm making my husband and son PJ pants for Christmas-my husband has 2 pairs of flannel pants and has had both since before we got married and actually does wear them. That's my best trick-find something they actually like that is getting worn out, and replace it with another of the same thing but new and nice!
For my Dad I couldn't get the findings in time for this Christmas, but for next year I'm going to make him custom cufflinks!

Laura

I've made scarves, potholders and quilts for the men in my life!

giddy99

Men ARE difficult to buy for! For my hubs, it's guitar picks, Amazon/iTunes gift cards, tools and beef jerky (for his stocking)! :)

What a great prize pack. I am afraid I will not be much help on the gift-giving front. Luckily this year, both my boys are trying to buy something big, so I will just contribute to that effort. Both love iTunes gift cards, though. Books are good for them and they light up like little children when they see a big bag of candy just for them :-)

Michelle {Daydream Believers}

Boys/Men are SO difficult to sew for, aren't they?! :) My fav handmade gifts for guys are fleece scarves and fabric key fobs. My go-to gift for little guys is a car roll filled with new cars :) Thanks for the chance!
Happy Day!

Debra Lee

The hubs can never have too much music or headphones!

Jeannie D

Don't feel bad...every year I say; "Guys, I need your lists" and every year I never get one. Truly like pulling teeth! So this year I'm making Flannel Lounge pants, books,Starbucks and Movie Theater gift cards. Oh yes, as a consequence for never giving a list they get...socks.

Kathy

Homemade boxer shorts in a fun fabric is a good choice for guys, I think. My guys also like hand-knit socks.

Susan Standen

Lovely giveaway, Kirsten. I find himself impossible to buy for because when he needs something he just get it and leaves nothing to put on a Christmas list. I let the girls pick sometimes, which is why he got a hot water bottle with a pink bunny cover one year.

Reshma W

My son loves to pick fabric for fun PJ bottoms and pillw cases. This year he has 3D bears, dragons, and skulls- and some cat inthe hat that only I see.

lucia

What adorable fabrics! I have to say I go for a fun assorted selection of beers of the world- and no matter how many times I get them my DH's face LIGHTS up (and some years he gets these twice a year). And I get the same smile every time he opens one of the bottles! This year I will add quilted coaster and a beer cozy! I can already see the smiles!

Teje Karjalainen

Hi Kirsten and thank you for a lovely give away! I see that I'm not only one who find it difficult with men's present. I knitted socks, made pillows, bought shirts - I think now they could use phone/laptop cases. x Teje

My boy likes cars and trucks so it's easy find. He also likes the clothing I made for him in CAR or TRUCK prints.

hafza

Geometric pattern quilt for my hubby and quilt in animals print for my boy!

Kitty Vane

That is a very sweet and seasonal fabric bundle! :)
I'm really stuck on what to make or get the menfolk in my life for Christmas. They're all incredibly hard to think up presents for; they have everything already and their interests are all things I know very little about, or even understand at all!

Captain StitchyPants

I went with 'luxury' socks this year for my brother - cashmere, with a little nylon for strength. I also got him a gift certificate, because I know he wants one. I think hats can be a good choice, scarves, perhaps sweaters if you're sure of their size/tastes. DVDs are also always popular with my brother.

Jane

Heat/ice packs for those after sports moments!

Annabella

Gorgeous giveaway Kirsten - I love those Scandinavian prints. Men are just difficult to buy for period. My hubby isn't too bad as he loves clothes, aftershave, a watch, music...actually he's quite easy if I think about it! He'll have to wait for his quilt though - machine needs to be repaired first!

Catherine

My boys love all things legos. This year, I'm also giving them homemade magnetic bookmarks, nerf bullet belts, fleece blankets featuring their favorite cartoon characters, and plenty of candy.

For my husband/fil/brothers, I look for functional or consumable things based on their interests. We usually end up with gift cards, food, beer, and techy goodies.

Cindy

Chickens! Chickens! That's one gorgeous pile of FQs you have there :)

Oh, boys. They're very hard. I'm doing iPad covers, a quilt, books, and perhaps a pair of wellies. Hope they like them!

I've been thinking that I could make a travel bag for toiletries for my dad

Francine

My husband always starts sending me links for things he wants nice & early lol. I have 3 sons and someone usually gets a watch or a wallet!

Lia*s Handmades

Those fabrics are beautiful! If he's a techy guy you could always make a messenger bag for his laptop :) If it's not homemade, then maybe some nice liqour, a new watch, does he like jewellery? I think it really depends on the guy :) Thanks for this giveaway!

Jo

What beautiful fabrics. Men and boys are always difficult and with my luck I only had sons. Pjs are an option tool rolls, welders caps.zipper pouches to keep their car registration and insurance papers in. Ok my brain just stopped. Thanks for the chance to win

Lee

Natasha

What a cute little bundle! I have a hard time with the men in my life as well. I only have to shop for my hubby and my brother. However, Hubby and I normally do not exchange gifts. My brother is tech sauvy and gets everthing himself. I might make him pillow cases this year.

KellyS

My boys are still little so I am making them cooking aprons this year for their kitchen set. As long as it is in their favorite character pattern, I think it will be a hit. Well one of them will definitely love it, he's my helper and LOVES to help me cook. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

Kelsey

Taryn

My default store to shop for the guys in my life is ThinkGeek.com. I usually get them shirts from Busted Tees as well. There is always at least one shirt that is perfect for each of them!

Heather

They are really hard to make for! I would think maybe a bin for his car, or a case for sunglasses. I made my husband a knitted hat this year. For my boys, cases for their colored pencils, knitted gnomes, wool felt animal masks. I made them fleece blankets last year, which they use often. I saw a gift card wallet that I thought would be great for a teen, since they tend to get lots of those. My boys really like to put things together, I was thinking a kit with wood of different sizes to create a project, like a house or whatever they think up. Also saw a fort kit which I thought would be fun for a pre-teen age boy, with sheet, pins, rope and a few other things in a handmade bag.

Needled Mom

The young men in my life always enjoy gift cards so I make these cute little gift card holders.

Gill

My sons play rugby so they have a new rugby shirt for Christmas!

Monica

I'm working on making sock monsters for our grandsons (and granddaughters). For my husband I'm planning to make a tie from a great tutorial I found through pinterest.

Julie

I think I'm going to make my son some mittens this year. He's 10.

Boys are always hard to shop for! If I make things pillowcases in sport themes like basketball, soccer, baseball is always popular or even soft flannel woodsy/forest themes. Also, I've had success with those little fleece tie quilts made up in plaids, sports teams, or forest/nature theme prints. Gift cards is what they like when they're teens and legos, nerf guns and action figures when they're little. Can you tell I live in a house full of boys :)

Sarah

Boys are hard! I generally go for books, but thats just because I can't think of anything better!

Jasmine1485

I usually choose men's toiletries, books, DVDs and vouchers for stores they shop at a lot :)

pippablue

Lovely giveaway! I also find it so hard to think of gifts for men! My little boy is robot mad, so I'm making him a robot plushie to add to his presents :)

Kerry

I make plushes or quilts for little boys, I found a cool pattern on Bustle and sew for making a fabric taxidermy deer head that's pretty cool. Maybe sunglasses cases, CD wallet things for the car, notebooks, even art?

The boys in my life are mostly about Legos lately. Even my husband would take them if I bought them. He's usually stuck with clothes, though.

Deb@asimplelifequilts

My husband is so hard to buy for, we kind of each buy for ourselves some years or buy something for the house together. I have no idea for this year! My son gives me a list thank goodness. Thanks for a great giveaway~!

Melissa Loves Color

It is so hard to shop for boys/men! I think for mine this year it will be electronics or Lego. :)

walklet

I've made a lot of flannel shirts as gifts. Cute fabrics!

Mara

So, for guys...food is usually best. My brother likes my spiced nuts. I give homemade jam too. I am going to sew a Kindle cover since my sis-in-law is giving him one this year.

I also think that the nanoBlocks are pretty cool! http://www.geekalerts.com/nanoblock-micro-building-blocks/

A great game is Settlers of Catan.

Katie

I make all young boys superhero capes!

What a perfectly lovely giveaway. My partner has just discovered that we possess a bread making machine, and has claimed ownership over it, so for him this year, it'll be something bread-related. For my son, if it can't be used on, or around, a football pitch, then it's not worth having....Hmmmm.... Merry Christmas! xx

Wendy

I made washbags and car kits for the men in my life last year

Richard Healey

As I am a man its easy to find what I like as I just make it my self. I don't do flowers. I love about every thing else. I have done many quilts now that I would call manly but there is not a single thing I could put my finger on to tell you whats for them. But pink and flowers are out haha.

Natasha

Wonderful bundle!! I am planning on making pajama pants for my 3 boys in flannel. I have made them scarves, pencil rolls, boy bags for gear, one of my sons love minky - so I was thinking a throw. I like the idea of a car kit as Wendy said. My niece makes her brother homemade freezer foods each year- he is 29 and loves it..lol

nicolesender

Great bundle of fabric! I'm giving the boys in my life legos and Star Wars zipbin carry cases that are also playmats.

These fabrics are absolutely *adorable*! Thanks for the giveaway chance! As for men - yeah, aren't they worst?! :) I don't have a husband or boyfriend to buy / craft for this year, but I do have a brother who will just buy the few things he wants. He's so difficult to to find a gift for! I made him a quilt last year and that would be pretty much all the quilt he needed, but then he was really upset about that idea! So this year I'm making another one, this one a cozy lap quilt. My brother's a bit of a freak, but he really likes the type of handmade things you might cozy up with. Not so useful for an Australian summer coming up, but my other ideas were way worse. :) Thanks again! ( julie at button-button dot co dot uk )

mmmm men are tough. How about a case for a computer or ipad?

Melzie Belle

I made my boys water bottle carriers with buttons to attach them to their clothings so that they can take them out hunting and they don't scare the animals with the velcro noise.

Ali

Oh sheesh, thank you for the giveaway but I am clueless about men! I might sew up a tablet cover for my husband, but other than that I'd have no idea of anything a guy would like :)

I recommend books and Lego. Or magazine subscriptions (have you discovered Cricket magazines for kids)
New clothes are always good so are board games - my children love games night at our house so a new game is always welcome.
Hope this helps.

Julie

This year I'm screen printing some t-shirts with some cool vintage diagrams of car parts. Luckily, there are quite a few car guys in my family.

Unfortunately, socks, undershorts and shavers usually are top on our list, but they seem to like them. Thanks for the opportunity on a great draw. Merry Christmas to you.

Legos always work for boys up to early teens or video games. I buy clothes in the style they wear alot,I've been know to bring them shopping and have them pick out stuff and come back at a later date. Thanks for chance to win.

Samantha

I like I-Spy quilts for little boys, and for men, coasters or manly 'mug rugs' for office desks.
