WIP: Modern Maples

I have wanted to make one of the Modern Maples quilts for a while now so as soon I saw the Pantone colour of the year was Marsala I thought this would be a good chance to do it, so that I could incorporate it along with some other autumnal tones.
I went through my fabrics and not surprisingly, found quite a few in my Denyse Schmidt stash, including a few of the burgundy/maroon/brownish prints that fitted in with the Marsala colour - well kind of anyway.
I cut all of these fabrics into the sizes for the Maples block and have been working on them whenever I get a chance...
So this is the where I am now up to with my Marsala Maples quilt ...
Just need to sew these blocks together and start quilting!

Aussie bag swap

Last week I mailed off a swap package for the #aussiebagswap2015 and because my partner was in Australia this time, it didn't take long to get to her.
I made a Noodlehead 241 tote bag using some Cotton & Steel prints - the front is a patchwork piece...
And the back is the butterflies print from the Moonlit range.
The strap features the canvas arrows print with some black denim on the inside.
I lined the bag in an Alison Glass streamers print as she was another one of my partners favourite designers and they also shared the same first name:).
. I made a little matching pouch from some of the scraps and some metallic denim.

Sweet Heart

I have seen a few of these pixelated heart patterns around and thought I'd do one for Valentines Day.
I went through my stash and found a few red and pink prints to use, along with some tone-on-tone white fabrics.
There are quite a few different heart designs - some use squares only and others have a few HST on the edges.
I used the Colour of My Heart pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop but downsized it by cutting 2 1/2 inch squares like Jennifer @ The Quilted Cat did.
I quilted it in a cross hatch grid design using a variegated red Gutermann thread and backed it in a cute heart patterned print.

Cotton and Steel mini quilt swap

If you are on IG, you will have seen that there are quite a few swaps going on at the moment! One of the swaps I couldn't resist joining is the Cotton and Steel mini quilt swap - I think there are over 600 participants in this swap and this time I am also a swap mama with a team of about 46 stitchers!
Cotton and Steel is an amazing fabric range that came out last year from a team of 5 designers and they have taken the sewing world by storm - the second line of fabrics have just been released and they are just as gorgeous as the first!
I used some of the "August" fabrics my Sarah Watts in the belated birthday "Leo" Super Tote for my mum last year.
This is the mosaic I posted to the group  - this swap is not due until June but I have already been sewing with some of the fabrics for another project:)

Hanging organiser

This week I sewed up a fun hanging organiser using some bright fluoro canvas prints.
And my spotty ironing board cover even matches it too:)
The original pattern had a noticeboard at the top but I replaced it with some chalk cloth to make a mini blackboard.
I stitched the chalk cloth on using a denim needle which accidently ironed over one corner of the  chalk cloth which has left a bit of a mark but it isn't too bad.

Sunday Stash - Doe

A few days ago I received a lovely bundle of Doe from Westwood Acres - I really love the neutrals in Carolyn Friedlanders prints!
I am trying to not make too many fabric purchases until I work my way through my stash, but as this was pre-ordered late last year it doesn't really count??:)
