Tula Sugar Skulls pillow

I have had the new Tula Pink book "Quilt with Tula and Angela" for about a year now so thought it was time to actually make something from it.
One of the many projects in the the book is the Sugar Skulls quilt, and as Halloween was coming up I decided to sew one of the blocks to use for a cushion/pillow.
The fabric is the Diamonds in  Raspberry from Acacia which is one of Tulas earlier ranges.
And I quilted the cushion in a crosshatch design using some matching hot pink thread.
Maybe next year I will make the whole Sugar Skull quilt as the block was quite fun to make.

This project was on my FAL Q4 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Legendary "Yowie" pillow

I had a block left over from the "Legendary" quilt I made my hubby for his 50th birthday, so decided to make a matching pillow to go with the quilt.
This was actually the first tree block I made for the quilt and as I had arranged the batiks in a kind of ombre colour flow, decided to leave it out of the quilt as it looked quite different to the other blocks.
For those of you not in Australia, the "Yowie" is a mythical creature similar to the American Sasquatch/Bigfoot, who is believed to live in the Australian wilderness.
And the Yowie was sighted again recently when hubby went away for his  birthday celebration/fishing trip with some friends...
This project was on my FAL Q4 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

"Woodland" Geo Gems quilt

I recently offered to test a new "Geo Gems" quilt pattern for Emily Dennis as I knew that I had some colourful prints to use in the quilt.
These cute "Woodland" fabrics are by the Australian designer Kat Kalindi, and were just perfect for a baby quilt.
The Geo Gems pattern includes sizes for Crib, Throw and Queen sized quilts and I chose to make the Crib size which finished at 45" square.

The pattern called for 5 FQ as well as 9 solids so I chose a few coordinating solids to go with the prints.

The blocks were very easy to sew and are great for showing off printed fabrics.
For the quilting I used the serpentine stitch along the main seams which has left the quilt feeling nice and soft.
And the backing is a blue check which went well with the shades of blue on the front.
The Geo Gems pattern is now available at Emilys "Quilty Love" website.
This was on my FAL Q4 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.
